I have been
professionally painting for well over 15 years and
recently moved to Long Beach NY where I will continue my
work. Studio visits are welcome and are available
by appointment. I work mainly in oil, acrylic, and
digital. Like most artists, my work began as a sort of
self-examination and there were lots of self portraits.
I believe that painting is a journey. My personal
journey began therefore with lots of realistic figurative
work, moved eventually to semi-abstract, and then
became almost wholly abstract. A new direction is a
collection that I am working on which involves
superimposing images over my paintings, multiplying the
images in different forms and tints, and then applying oils to
create a new image. Samples of this new collection will
be seen shortly on these pages. New work has branched
into digital photo collage, where vintage photos, my current
paintings and photos are combined into unique collages.
Collectors of my works can now be found throughout the United
States, South America, and Europe. I am very pleased to
report that among my collectors are a curator for the Chelsea
Art Museum, a director of ArtForum magazine, and an officer of
Sotheby's. Of course, all collectors are highly esteemed
and much appreciated.
Recent
exhibitions have been held at Arts on 6th and B.A.M.A.
Galleries in Hoboken, NJ, Hoboken City Hall, several venues in
New York City, as well as in Europe and the Museo de Arte
Moderno, Bogota, Colombia. Two recent works, "Giovanni,"
and "Gene Pool," are now part of the permanent collection of
Leslie-Lohman in Manhattan. I have for years
participated in the annual Hoboken Artists Open Studio Tour
and recently the First Sundays Tour of the Monroe Center for
the Arts in Hoboken. Among other honors, a recent
painting, "Passion," was awarded a prize by the Artists'
Magazine and in 2003 another painting, "A Mother's Heart," was
selected by the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition for their
art auction and was successfully sold in their
fundraiser. In addition to painting, photography is
another passion and I was most honored to have 3 of my
photographs selected for the photography Biennial of the
Leslie-Lohman Art Foundation in Chelsea, New York City.
One of my paintings, "Two Hearts," was featured in the
Fall 2004 catalog of Utrecht Art Supply and was shown on their
website as well. My own taste in painting is very
eclectic, and I especially enjoy the works of Wayne Thiebaud,
Laura Alexander, Lucian Freud, Gerhard Richter, and John
Singer Sargent.
For me, painting
is another form of communication and my most recent works deal
with the complexities of human emotion. The art is
actually the image that I form in my head, the paintings are
an attempt to share those images with you. See my work
on the web at www.bamagalleries.com,
www.findingrembrandt.com,
and www.monroecenter.com, www.artocracy.org among
others.
Works can vary
in size from the very small, 14" by 18", to the very large,
over 7' tall and all are reasonably priced. I will
gladly quote prices by email or by telephone. I can vary
the size according to your needs. To a limited extent, I
am available to produce pieces on commission. I can
accept Paypal in payment and ship throughout the USA.
Art given as a gift lasts forever!
